Innovation Management Program (InnoQuest)

Managing innovation is critical to sustainable growth.  For the last four years, EDGE has facilitated a bi-monthly program to share best practices from innovation leaders and to foster a collaborative forum where mid-market leaders can learn from area practitioners and each other.

Recent sessions have been held with leaders from Lubrizol, Cleveland Clinic Innovations, NASA Glenn, LeanDog, Baldwin Wallace Center for Innovation and Growth, CSU’s Center for Sustainable Development, CWRU’s think[box], Moen, OverDrive, OMNOVA Solutions, Eureka! Ranch and Innovation Engineering.  Sessions have featured topical experts in Leadership and Culture Change, Business Model Innovation, Accelerating Innovation and Scenario Planning.  See 2015 Schedule.

In six 4-hour sessions (7:45 – 12:00 noon), participants gain:

  • Best practices in managing and guiding the innovation process;
  • New working relations with peer companies & leading practitioners;
  • Actionable steps to improve a company’s innovation practices.

As a result of participation, we have seen many companies:

  • Charting new courses for innovation;
  • Feeling empowered to invest innovation – learning with and from others that have gone before them;
  • Collaborating more effectively with area companies – including working more closely with area universities;
  • Aligning their companies around innovation and accelerate their processes for bringing new ideas to market.

Testimonials:

“InnoQuest has been a great way to connect with other businesses in Northeastern Ohio working to advance their innovation system. Each meeting we hear from business leaders about innovation challenges currently facing our organizations and examples of how those challenges are being solved. It’s an extremely collaborative environment that goes beyond just the bi-monthly meetings. We exchange emails, tools and even meet together at one of our business locations to gather additional learnings. I would highly recommend participating in this group if you want to advance your organization’s innovation efforts!” – April Bertram, Innovation Management Director, GOJO

“InnoQuest sessions are an invaluable tool that we use in gaining more information to drive our innovation. Northeast Ohio has so many companies and services that are poised to assist in a company’s innovation, and the EDGE group has brought many of them to our attention. I look forward to each session, knowing that I will come away something valuable to help guide our next steps.” – Jim Hlebovy, Product Engineering Manager, Gebauer

“Innovation requires getting outside of one’s daily space, and the InnoQuest meetings are a perfect opportunity for me and my team to gain new insights to help us on our journey to becoming a proven creative and innovative company.  As a result, we have charted a course for our innovation efforts, developed new R&D partnerships with The University of Akron, and found ways to engage our team in creating a more innovative culture.” – Joseph Majewski, President/CEO, ChromaScape, Inc.

“The EDGE Innoquest program has connected GrafTech with our innovation-minded peers across northeast Ohio.  The informative sessions introduce us to topics and solutions which we would not have discovered on our own.”  -Julian Norley, VP, Innovation and Technology & Helen Mayer, Manager, Innovation and Knowledge, GrafTech International

EDGE is planning its 2016 schedule and is exploring visits with Avery Dennison’s, Parker Hannifin’s and PolyOne’s Innovation Centers, Cleveland Institute of Art CWRU’s new think[box] Maker Space, The Technology House (exploring the applications of 3D printing more closely) and more.  Some of the topics we want to continue addressing include: Change Management, Organizational Alignment, Innovation Tools, Implementation of Ideas, Design Thinking, Creative Problem Solving and more.
